Back to the creativity bit, there are bar tables and stools that are made from bamboo sticks or rattan. These materials are very useful especially in the current age where creativity is no longer within the narrow confines of the skilled designers. I believe that 24 inch bar stools are a fairly modern development in the area of bar stools. Historically, there were only 30 inch bar stools. The 30 inch bar stool dates back hundreds of years. The standard height was set based on sitting at old English style pubs. When I first got into the bar design business all of the stools were generally standardized. They were the same heights, and for the most part one of only a few styles and designs. You would walk into just about any pub and not be able to tell them apart if you only had the bar stools to go by. Now there are hundreds of different types of bar stools that are manufactured and commercially available.

For the most part there are now two standard bar stool height: there are 24 inch bar stools and 30 inch bar stools. The higher 30″ bar stools are found in commercial venues such as pubs, night clubs and restaurants. Both the 24 inch and 30 inch bar stools models are commonly found in residential settings. With hundreds of different models to choose from you can make your bar area as unique as you want.

During the 60s and 70s, the use of bars in private homes was generally limited to basement family rooms or possibly outside on the pool deck. The stools found around the pool tended to be made out chrome or resin. For obvious reasons, the stools needed to be water resistant. Bar stools found in the basement recreation rooms tended to be wooden with a swivel seat and a chair back. These stools were stained a dark natural walnut or oak color. All of these older style bar stools were primarily designed for use by fully grown adults.

In the mid-90s kitchen renovations were really becoming popular. Kitchen renovation shows were popping up on TV. New glossy kitchen renovation magazines were being launched. It was beginning to dawn on people that the kitchen was an integral and very important part of the family home. Today kitchens are still about function but they are also about style and lifestyle. Today, it is all about granite counters, stainless appliances, cappuccino makers, marble back splashes, and breakfast bars and breakfast bar stools. Breakfast bar stools are generally 24 inch bar stools.

The idea of the purpose of a kitchen changed radically. A kitchen wasn’t just about making food or doing the dishes. A kitchen became a place to enjoy family time. This concept came to fruition just as we all realized a bigger kitchen with more counter space was needed if the food preparation and clean up was to be shared with other activities. The breakfast bar became the ideal place to read the paper or do homework.

There are a number of good reasons the 24″ bar stool was created. Not the least of which was that the older taller chairs seemed too big for the kitchen. However, likely the most important reason was child safety. If children were to use these stools then the standard height stools were simply too high and posed a danger to children. The shorter 24″ bar stool was perfect as it blended into the kitchen and was safe for use by children.

The absence of proportion will make some pieces of furniture stand out, while certain others will be left overshadowed, which will significantly hamper the overall attractiveness of the room.

Focus: A focal point in interior design of a room is important for its appeal. Focal items can be anything ranging from a furniture article to an attractive painting or some other art work. This object must make an impression on the observer and also fall in line with the design of the rest of the room. It must look attractive, but not look out of the scheme of things.

Rhythm: This is again a necessary factor of good interior design. The design must appear to flow as per a pattern from one point to another. This can be attained through the use of arcs, patterned walls or ceilings, through decorations or furnishings, and through alternating colours or designs.

Interior designing of a space will be consistent if these basic guidelines are kept in mind. It is recommended to hire a good interior design professional who can take care of all these factors and also assist you with the details.

Modern kitchen appliances no longer resemble their predecessors. Early stoves were heavy, large and fueled by wood. Coal and kerosene cook stoves were next developed and, as the nation’s infrastructures grew, the first electric and gas stoves were advanced. Today’s ovens and stoves are more compact and use less energy than earlier versions. There are also more recent technologies such as convection and microwave ovens that decrease cooking times, thereby using less power.

Because of today’s busy lifestyles, it is required that modern kitchens offer more than function. In addition to space saving storage and more efficient room layouts, cabinetry and appliances are easier to clean and maintain. Energy-efficient appliances are less expensive to run and have added safety features. While the traditional kitchen paved the way for today’s kitchen, modern kitchens offer more comfort and ease of use than their predecessors.
