Bar Stool Designs

I was so lucky to be able to design my own kitchen when we built our home.  I decided that I really wanted a huge island in my kitchen to use for quick meals.  What I found is that this is the center area in our home.  When we have company over, we usually gather around the island because that is where the food and beverages are.  We started off with some cheaper bar stools, but they really wore out quickly.  Then we purchased some metal bar stools and love them.  We went with 4 stools as that is what fits under the island, but then I decided that we needed some more for when company comes.   We keep the extras in the basement, but always get them out when we have company.  This allows everyone to sit comfortably around the island.

Reto is really in for decor.  I was in a house where they had their kitchen done in retro.  Remember the old style bar stools that were metal, attached to the floos, and had vinal cusions for the seating?  This is what they had in their home.  It remimded me of Happy Days tv show.  They actually looked cool and fit in great with the retro look.

We made a rec room in our church for the youth group.  I decided that it would be great to get a high table an put some bar stools round it for different activities.  I have found that the kids take these stool and move them all around the room.  They love them. They put them by the ping pong table when watching a game, by the tv when playing playstation, and around the table when eating.  These stools have been used so much by the youth and they love them.

The bottom of my stools are metal.  I love the stool itself.  There is a rubber black ring around the bottom of the stool which keeps the stool from scratching the floor.  My problem is that the rubber has started to get old and crack.  I have fixed it with black McGuyver tape so far.  I am wondering if there is something that I can purchase to put on the bottom of these stools so they don’t scratch the floor.

These are the bar stools that I own….(I hope the photo goes threw).   I love them because they are adjustable in height.  When a child sits in it, he can just be raised up to the proper height to eat off the island in my kitchen. 

When I looked at my house during my search, I was happy to see a kitchen island that separated the cooking area from an eating area.  The previous owner had padded barstools along the island.  I finally replaced them with a nice light wooden barstool with a clear varnish and it looks great!  It’s the perfect place to sip coffee and read the newspaper.

My family has always loved hanging out together in the kitchen. We would all help my mom cook dinner and talk about our days. The time we spent in the kitchen was probably the most relaxing time of the day.Now that I am a parent I try to recreate that feeling in my family. I bought a roomy kitchen bar table in order to try to get my family together more often. It actually worked!

Now that there’s somewhere comfy to sit in the kitchen I find my family spending much more time talking.

Seating is a huge growth area for consumers and on line purchasing is on the rise. Bar stools and dining chairs are now forming a large market with products being drop shipped directly to the customers.  There is an enormous variety of style and construction. 

The seating products are usually customized to fit the customer’s own style and design.  Customers can specify the fabric, wood stain or metal finish as well as specifying other options such as height.  The leading bar stool and seating web sites have turnovers in excess of $1,000,000 USD per month and they can easily make much more by selling related products such as bar tables, dining tables and other furniture items.

Putting short stools at a high bar doesn’t make sense. If a person has to strain to reach a bar they will be uncomfortable and more likely to have an accident. And, if a bar stool is too high a person’s legs will be unlikely to reach the ground, creating a seating situation that is awkward at best.When determining which counter height bar stools would be best you should keep these instructions in mind:

1.  Measure tables and counters by the length of the floor to the top of the table or bar. About 10-12 inches should be between a table top and a stool’s seat.
2. Measure the table’s overhang; this includes the distance from the tabletop to the lowest part of the table’s sides, excluding the table’s legs. The wider the overhang, the lower the bar stool should be.

Swiveling bar stools are a good way to encourage a social atmosphere in any home or business. When you think about it–kitchens, bars, game rooms and restaurants are places where people commonly gather to talk with others. It’s important to offer seating that allows individuals to have eye contact when speaking with others. There is even a certain type of swivel stool that is tailored to mischievous children. These stools feature a spring-loaded mechanism that automatically returns the stool to its original position.
