Go to any auto supply place or hardware store or even some supermarkets. Pick up some Amorall leather cleaner. It cleans and moisturizes the leather at the same time. You’d be surprised what yuck comes off, even when you think the leather is clean. I use it for my leather chair all the time.

There are lots of classy yet cheap bar stools out there. But how do you find them? There are lots of expensive options out there – you can find bar stools for as much as $375 per stool – but you can do better than that. Sometimes you have to be resourceful in your search.

First, make an assessment of the décor of your bar. Is it sleek and high-tech or more conventional? Once you know what kind of bar stool you’re looking for, your search will get a whole lot easier.

Give some thought as to what kind of design and shape of bar stool you would like. For instance, do you want your bar stools to be able to swivel or not? How tall do you want them to be? There are lots of cool ones out there, but it really helps to have an idea of how you want your bar to look in advance and this will save you money (and time).

From there, do a little searching on the Internet. This will give you an idea as to what’s out there and how much it costs. Many people like to buy bar stools on the Internet because you can visit lots of websites in a fraction of the time it would take you to visit as many stores. There are many online stores that sell nothing but bar stools, and those are a lot of fun to check out!

Make sure you check out some of the online furniture liquidation sales, which sell discontinued models and used showroom items. Some of these liquidation sites will also let you stop by and examine their bar stools as well, in case you’re squeamish about buying something sight unseen.

Another possibility is to go to websites featuring furniture sales in your area, such as Craigslist. There are many restaurants and bars that go out of business and have to unload their furniture in a hurry to fulfill the terms of their filing for bankruptcy. Believe me, their owners will thank you for helping them out of a jam, and it’s an easy way to get inexpensive bar stools.

Estate sales are another great way to get bar stools. In these kinds of situations, you will find motivated sellers who are willing to negotiate. Touring the furniture showrooms in your area is great as well, if you’re just trying to get an idea of what’s out there. But you can usually expect to pay top dollar at these places. And it’s a time-intensive task.

You can expect to visit ten or more stores and see nothing you want at prices you probably don’t want to pay. The great thing about touring stores is that you can collect designer names and names of models of bar stools you really like, then Google them when you get home to see who carries those models for less money.

If the prime factor in selecting bar stools is cost, you should take into consideration that the fancier the bar stool, the more money you’re going to pay. So if you’re just looking for a place for people to park their butts, and you don’t really care beyond that, you might consider very simply-made bar stools of wood!

Further along these lines, consider bar stools made of unusual materials, such as bamboo. Would you like to make your bar area look like a tiki hut? Then look no further! There are many import furniture stores that can help you locate inexpensive, fun bar stools, and they’re definitely worth checking out.

If you’ve exhausted everything else and you can’t find what you want, you do have another option. Have you checked out Ikea? They carry bar stools! (Who woulda thunk it?) Ikea has one bar stool that looks exactly like an upholstered folding chair with extremely long legs.

The warehouse stores all have bar stools as well – Wal Mart has them, for example. But you may find them somewhat lacking in quality. If you plan on owning your bar stools for some time to come, this may not be the best place(s) to look.

I was so lucky to be able to design my own kitchen when we built our home.  I decided that I really wanted a huge island in my kitchen to use for quick meals.  What I found is that this is the center area in our home.  When we have company over, we usually gather around the island because that is where the food and beverages are.  We started off with some cheaper bar stools, but they really wore out quickly.  Then we purchased some metal bar stools and love them.  We went with 4 stools as that is what fits under the island, but then I decided that we needed some more for when company comes.   We keep the extras in the basement, but always get them out when we have company.  This allows everyone to sit comfortably around the island.

Reto is really in for decor.  I was in a house where they had their kitchen done in retro.  Remember the old style bar stools that were metal, attached to the floos, and had vinal cusions for the seating?  This is what they had in their home.  It remimded me of Happy Days tv show.  They actually looked cool and fit in great with the retro look.

We made a rec room in our church for the youth group.  I decided that it would be great to get a high table an put some bar stools round it for different activities.  I have found that the kids take these stool and move them all around the room.  They love them. They put them by the ping pong table when watching a game, by the tv when playing playstation, and around the table when eating.  These stools have been used so much by the youth and they love them.

The bottom of my stools are metal.  I love the stool itself.  There is a rubber black ring around the bottom of the stool which keeps the stool from scratching the floor.  My problem is that the rubber has started to get old and crack.  I have fixed it with black McGuyver tape so far.  I am wondering if there is something that I can purchase to put on the bottom of these stools so they don’t scratch the floor.

These are the bar stools that I own….(I hope the photo goes threw).   I love them because they are adjustable in height.  When a child sits in it, he can just be raised up to the proper height to eat off the island in my kitchen. 

When I looked at my house during my search, I was happy to see a kitchen island that separated the cooking area from an eating area.  The previous owner had padded barstools along the island.  I finally replaced them with a nice light wooden barstool with a clear varnish and it looks great!  It’s the perfect place to sip coffee and read the newspaper.

My family has always loved hanging out together in the kitchen. We would all help my mom cook dinner and talk about our days. The time we spent in the kitchen was probably the most relaxing time of the day.Now that I am a parent I try to recreate that feeling in my family. I bought a roomy kitchen bar table in order to try to get my family together more often. It actually worked!

Now that there’s somewhere comfy to sit in the kitchen I find my family spending much more time talking.
